Brussels hosts more than 300 foreign diplomatic missions and the headquarters of the European Commission, the Council and NATO. Yet most Brussels pupils finish secondary school without ever having approached this world, and above all without knowing that it is open to them.
Diplomacy for Brussels began as the initiative of one Brussels local, Hamza GARD, and was incorporated as a non-profit association in August 2026. Today eight people from Brussels, French and Dutch speakers, run the project. Our work has a single purpose : building a bridge between Brussels youth and diplomacy. Raise awareness first, train next, open doors last.
No definition before five examples. We start from what young people already see : a treaty, a veto, an embassy round the corner.
Every activity exists in French and in Dutch, with the same substance. Bilingualism is not a translation, it is a commitment.
We explain how things work, never an opinion. The rule is written in every outline handed to our facilitators.
Hamza GARD
Co-founder and president
22, law student at UCLouvain Saint-Louis Brussels. Born and raised in Brussels. He gave his first introductory courses on diplomacy to two final-year classes in a Brussels athenaeum, and drew from it the conviction behind the association : what young people lack is not ability, it is the door in.
LinkedInWhat started with one person now brings together eight people from Brussels, French and Dutch speakers, Hamza included. They teach the classroom sessions, run the workshops, prepare the New York project and look after relations with schools and partners.
